This is a draft. Details may change before MyErrand launches.
This policy explains what personal information MyErrand collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and what choices you have. It covers this website, the MyErrand app for customers and the MyErrand app for taskers.
Who we are
MyErrand is run by [registered company name], a company registered in Nigeria (RC [CAC number]), at [registered address]. We decide how your personal information is used, which makes us the “data controller” under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
For any question about your information, email [email protected].
What we collect
If you join our launch list on this website
- Your email address or phone number.
- Whether you want to get errands done or earn as a tasker.
- The date and time you agreed to be contacted.
If you create an account in either app
- Your first and last name, email address and phone number.
- Your password, stored in a scrambled form that nobody at MyErrand can read.
- A profile photo, if you add one.
When you use MyErrand for errands
- What the errand is, the pickup and drop-off addresses and their places on the map, and any budget for items.
- Photos added to an errand, such as photos of items.
- The errand's progress, the 4-digit PIN used to confirm it, ratings and reviews, and any problem reports.
- Records of payments, fees and refunds. Card and bank payments are handled by Paystack; we never see or keep your full card details.
If you sign up as a tasker
- A photo of your government ID (NIN slip, driver's licence, voter's card or international passport).
- Your BVN. We keep only a scrambled form of it, not the number itself.
- Your bank name, account number and account name, so we can pay your earnings.
- Your earnings and payout records.
Technical information
Our servers keep short records of each request, including your IP address and the time, to keep the service working and secure. The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it
| What we do | Why we're allowed to |
|---|---|
| Tell you when MyErrand launches (launch list) | You agreed to it. You can withdraw at any time. |
| Run your account, match errands with taskers, and show each step | It's needed to provide the service you asked for. |
| Check taskers' ID and BVN before they can take errands | To keep customers safe and prevent fraud (our legitimate interest). |
| Take payments, pay taskers and keep financial records | To provide the service, and because the law requires us to keep financial records. |
| Look into problem reports and misuse | To keep MyErrand safe and fair for everyone (our legitimate interest). |
| Send login codes and important account messages | It's needed to provide the service and keep your account secure. |
Who can see it
- The other person on your errand. Your tasker sees your first name and the first letter of your last name, the errand details and the addresses. You see your tasker's name, photo and rating. We don't show either of you the other's phone number.
- Our team. Only staff who need it, for example to review a tasker's ID or look into a problem report. We keep a record of what our team does.
- Companies that run parts of MyErrand for us, only for that purpose:
- Supabase: our database and file storage (in Ireland)
- Render: our servers (in Germany)
- Vercel: hosting for this website
- Resend: sending emails such as login codes
- Paystack: card and bank payments, and paying taskers (in Nigeria)
- Hostinger: our support email inbox
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Information stored outside Nigeria
Our database and servers are in the European Union (Ireland and Germany), where the law gives personal information strong protection. We only send personal information abroad in the ways the Nigeria Data Protection Act allows.
How long we keep it
- Launch list: until you ask to be removed, or 12 months after MyErrand launches in your area, whichever comes first.
- Accounts: while your account is open.
- After an account is closed: we keep errand, payment and problem records for as long as the law requires (usually six years for financial records) and to handle any open disputes.
How we protect it
- Everything sent between you and MyErrand is encrypted.
- Passwords and BVNs are stored scrambled, so they can't be read even by our team.
- ID photos are kept in private storage that only our reviewing team can open.
- Our team's access is limited to what each person needs, and their actions are recorded.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information, unless we must keep it by law;
- stop using it for a particular purpose, or stop contacting you;
- send your information to you or another service in a common format.
Email [email protected] and we'll reply within one month. You can close your customer account in the app under Settings, then Delete account. If you're not happy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).
Children
MyErrand is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
